Question: What is Underinsured Motorist Coverage?

The purpose of Underinsured Motorist Coverage is to protect the insured (and additional insureds) from
the risk that a negligent driver of another vehicle will cause injury to the "insured" and will have inadequate
coverage to compensate the injuries caused by the driver's negligence.

Question: What is the definition of Underinsured?

Underinsured motorist is defined as a vehicle for which the sum of all liability bonds or policies, which
apply at the time of an "accident," do not provide at least an amount an insured is legally entitled to
recover.

The damages must result from "bodily injury" sustained by the "insured" and caused by an "accident."
Secondly, the accident must be caused by an "underinsured motor vehicle."
